From bikes to power tools, lithium-ion batteries are everywhere. Whether you are looking to purchase a new device or already own one, keep these reminders in mind:
- Ensure that the product is professionally certified.
- Never alter the battery or device.
- Follow the manufacturer’s charging instructions.
- If you need to discard a lithium-ion battery, ensure to dispose of the device in a hazardous waste site.
There is nothing better than an outdoor BBQ to enjoy the nicer weather ahead. As you prepare to enjoy some delicious food fresh off the grill, be sure to keep safety in mind.
- Inspect your grill for any signs of damage.
- Clean the grill thoroughly, removing any excess grease or debris.
- If you are igniting a propane grill, keep the lid open.
- If you are using a charcoal grill, do NOT use gasoline to start the charcoal. Instead, opt for approved lighter fluid or electrical devices to heat the charcoal.
From roasting food over a campfire to enjoying s’mores over a bonfire, outdoor fires are a common pastime for many during the Spring. Keep safety at the forefront of these gatherings so your plans don’t go up in flames.
- Build the fire at least 10 feet away from any structures and combustible materials.
- Be mindful of the weather, avoiding extremely windy or dry conditions.
- Do not use gasoline to ignite the fire.
- Avoid wearing loose fabrics around the fire, as these are extremely flammable.
