Working in Extreme Heat
Every year, dozens of employees fall ill while working in extreme heat conditions, with extreme cases resulting in death. Overexposure to high temperatures can range from heat rash and heat cramps, to heat exhaustion, and can progress to a life-threatening condition known as heat stroke. Knowing how to stay safe and cool while working in extreme heat is important to us at USAFP. OSHA has important information below regarding working in high temperatures.
The best preventative measures for heat-related illnesses are to stay cool and stay hydration. Exposure to air conditioning for even a few hours a day can help reduce the risk. Check out our last Facebook post on air conditioning fire safety to make sure you are prepared for the hot temperatures.
